Title: Sr Business Analyst, Chicago, IL
Location: Illinois-Chicago
Works with various functional areas to define business needs, enhancements and requirements for systems and business processes. Must be a self-starter and strong analytical thinker with the ability to facilitate requirements gathering, perform financial and operational analysis, and synthesize complex concepts into simple business terms.
* Provides business analysis for project delivery
* Drives the business requirements gathering process to ensure that meaningful requirements are identified for the business solution
* Documents business requirements in a clear, complete, and concise manner
* Ensures that business requirements are related to business goals and priorities
* Conducts requirements walk-throughs to obtain understanding and approval
* Works with IS business analysts in defining requirements for application systems
* Provides requirements traceability
* Provides process mapping of current and future states
* Performs gap analysis activities
* Performs financial and operational analysis
* Develops business case estimates
* Develops executive presentations
* Facilitates workshops and meetings to define business solution
* Supports third party vendor selection and contract negotiation
* Supports user acceptance and business process testing
* Participates in the acceptance of products, services and enhancements prior to roll-out to ensure that requirements are met
* Pro-actively identifies improvement opportunities for systems and business process changes
* Works with the business areas to anticipate future needs and changes to systems and business processes
* Assists with the processes for prioritizing application system enhancements and defining business requirements for these enhancements
* Works with and monitors the activities of the business to ensure thorough business requirements are defined and approved on a timely basis for enhancements to applications or processes
* Provides consultative services to projects and initiatives to assist with analysis and planning around technology, process, and people changes
* Acts as a point of escalation for problems and issues
* Supports improvements to enterprise business analyst methodology and tools
* Provides mentorship and counseling for junior business analyst resources
* Other duties as assigned
* Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent experience required
* At least 5 years of business analysis experience is required
* Business knowledge of the wireless industry is desirable
* Knowledge of business analysis, business process re-engineering, and requirements gathering methods and tools required
* Must possess outstanding analytical, research, and qualitative abilities
* Ability to synthesize large, complex sets of information and integrate into meaningful reports, recommendations, and presentations
* Must be a critical thinker who can also execute on the details
* Excellent written, oral communication, facilitation and presentation skills required
* Excellent attention to detail and the ability to probe underlying business needs
* Strong interpersonal skills are essential given that the position will have significant interaction with various functional areas and all levels of associates
* Diplomacy, poise, maturity and empathy are all key attributes for success
* Ability to work independently in a matrixed environment as well as in a team environment
* Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously
* Ability to be flexible and manage change
* Ability to work in complex situations with varying degrees of ambiguity

* A combination of both operational and IS experience is a plus
* Knowledge of systems architecture, application development life cycle, and data modeling a plus
